Tinubu Awards Super Eagles with MON Merit for AFCON 2023 Triumph

In recognition of the Super Eagles’ outstanding performance at the recently ended AFCON 2023 competition in Ivory Coast, President Bola Tinubu has awarded the team a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) national honour.

Additionally, each of them received a flat and a plot of land in the FCT.

Ivory Coast, the hosts, took first place, and Nigeria placed second, in the AFCON.

The titles were presented to the Nigerian squad on Tuesday at the State House upon their arrival.

Despite facing adversity and intense competition, the Super Eagles remained steadfast in their pursuit of glory, showcasing the true essence of Nigerian football – passion, flair, and resilience. They now join the ranks of Imam Abdullahi Abubakar, HRM Eze Isaac Ikonne, Dr. Faisal Shuaibu, Chief Silva Ejeh Ameh, Alh. Kamoru Ibitoye Yusuf, Mallam Ibrahim Okposi, Alhaji Shehu Uthman, Barr. Chris Ezem, Davido and Teni to have received the national honours.
