The Executive Chairman, Ezeagu Local Government Area, Dr. Vita Ndu, has been conferred with the Prestigious Transparency Africa Honour by the Continental organization, Transparency Africa Initiative. The recognition which was presented on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, celebrates Dr. Ndu’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and transformational leadership since assuming office.
Presenting the award on behalf of the organization, Dr. Bernard Soglo, Ambassador Ghoris Mosobalaje, the Nigerian Representative of Transparency Africa, praised Dr. Ndu’s exemplary governance, describing his leadership as “transformational.” He noted that the positive impact of his administration in Ezeagu has attracted international attention, prompting the organization to recognize his efforts and to encourage him to continue on the right path.
“This is not just a recognition; the world is watching. Dr. Vita Ndu’s leadership has birthed numerous developments in the region, and we are here today to say, ‘keep going,’” Mosobalaje stated.
Transparency Africa Organization is a globally respected non-governmental & non partisan body known for its relentless fight against corruption across the continent of Africa. During the ceremony, Dr. Bernard Soglo, the National Director of Programmes and Communications, lauded Dr. Ndu’s leadership both in the private and public sectors. He described him as “a square peg in a square hole,” commending his exemplary governance model and the giant strides made under his administration.
In his response, Dr. Vita Ndu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the organization for the honour. He described the award as an encouragement to do more and reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Ezeagu and the betterment of her people.
“This recognition strengthens my resolve to continue serving with integrity, passion, and a deep sense of responsibility to my people and the society at large,” Dr. Ndu stated.
This Honour stands as a testament to Dr. Vita Ndu’s remarkable contributions to Ezeagu and beyond. As the first recipient of this Award/Honour in South East Nigeria, Dr. Ndu by his achievements has broken into the ranks of previous distinguished awardees which include; Olori Temitope Ogunwusi (Wife of the Ooni of Ife), Chief Mrs Titiola Adeleke (First Lady of Osun State), Prof. Abiodun Humphrey Adebayo (The immediate Past Vice Chancellor of Convenant University) and Hon. Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba ( Chief Judge of Lagos State).
This honour has affirmed the vision of His Excellency Dr Peter Mbah’s desire of aligning the State Governments vision with that of the Local Government through the emergence of visionary leaders with character, competence and capacity to drive his vision for Ndi Enugu at the grassroots.
