Hon. Leke Abejide’s Success Stories In The National Assembly

Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide is a Federal Lawmaker with a difference in the National Assembly, this is because of his outstanding contributions and performance to the floor of the House and to the people of his constituency. For he has even gone outside the scope of his duties as a Lawmaker for projects execution and life changing programmes for the people of his constituency.
Since leke Abejide was elected in the 9th assembly and his re-elected in the 10th assembly , he has never rested on his seat without doing one thing or the other for his people , off course he is doing it in other to satisfy their yearnings and aspirations ,reasons being that he is from the opposition party.

The lawmaker within his stay in the national assembly has facilitated people oriented and life changing projects with empowerment programmes that has benefited his constituency people alot , all to make them compete favourable with their counterparts around the world and live meaningfully to the society.

His life touching and changing projects were executed with human face in other to address the present economic and societal challanges bedeviling the country as well made them self-reliant

Hon. leke won his election under the African Democratic Congress party (ADC) as a legislature to represent the good people of Yagba East/yagba west/mopamuro Federal constituency in the 9th assembly and was made the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on customs & excise duties , and in the 10th assembly upon his re-election he became the chairman of the committee, which are his success stories because it is very rear in the national assembly to climb from a deputy chairman to chairman of the same committee among 360 members in the house .

He was made the chairman of customs and excise duties because of his outstanding performance when he was the deputy chairman for reasons that he sponsored a bill repealing the customs and excise management act, cap. 45, laws of the federation of nigeria, 2004 . The Bill enacted the nigeria customs service act, 2022, which was to provide for the reform of the administration and management of customs and excise in nigeria; and for other related matters.

That gave him an age over other members and a plus for him even to the admirations of customs officers as he was seeing as a man with prowess that is willing to carry their reformations to an upward swing.

Aside that Abejide moved several motions of state and national interest on the floor of the House and is still doing.
Hon. leke also established a communal responsibility through a non-partisan and non-governmental organization known as leke abejide foundation which is providing all human needs to his people especially the less privileged and widows,

The lawmaker in trying to re-write the story of Yagba East/yagba west/mopamuro federal constituency contributed in areas of rural & infrastructural development, women and youths empowerment, health care services, poverty alleviation, agriculture and food security as well as providing care for the aged and widows among others .

He also embarked on construction and rehabilitation of iyamoye to igbagun road, igbagun to ife-olukotun road down to oyi River as well as provide palliative measures to the people .

Leke also rehabilitated iluhagba-mopamuro-isanlu road, and facilitated the construction of omuo to igbagun road.he did the construction of drainage and road leading to ilafin-odoogbe, and rendered financial assistance to the grading of some rural roads at ogbe, okoloke – isanlu esa and oke ere. Also he constructed alu-igboero road, rehabilitation of oke-ere akata bridge in yagba west . he also contributed 20 million Naira toward building of okun unity house kabba. grading and sand-filling of mopa-egbe federal road. the lawmaker also did the grading of egbe-okuran-okoloke-isanlu esa road. rehabilitation of makutu-obada road and the rehabilitation of isanlu-irunda ile road. rehabilitation of alu-odo-amu road.

other success stories of Hon.leke are
distribution of 70 motor vehicles of different specifications ranging from highlanders, toyota camry, sienna, pontiac, and golf across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas.

The Lawmaker also donated 47 suv highlander to all the traditional rulers in yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas.

Rep, Leke also paid
waec examinations to several students with five years school fees across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas for both student in public and private secondary schools.. he also paid waec fees for students of kabba, bunu and ijumu lgas.

the lawmaker also contributed to agriculture such as
building of a research centre for the people of his constituency .

The legislature also facilitated in providing agric loan of 500, 000 to 500 persons across yagba land.

As well as distributed over thirty thousand palmtrees and cashew nurseries across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas.

Hon Leke also distributed 3000 chemical fertilizers to farmers across yagba federal constituency.
He also distributed medical facilities worth over one hundred million naira to five general hospitals and one cottage hospital across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas.

contributed to medical health challenges to the people of his constituency.

To the widows , Leke provide
six years distribution of food items, clothing material and other relief items to all widows across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas.
The federal lawmaker also provided
empowerment and financial assistance to persons with disabilities across his constituency.
On the area of security leke provided standard police station with solar powered borehole and donated brand new toyota hilux vehicle to nigeria police force.

he also installs over 500 solar-powered streetlights across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas.

Other projects are ongoing of rural electrification of imela, takete-isao to the national grid.as well as rehabilitation and stepping down of jege power station.
within his years under review as a lawmaker in the national assembly.

Hon. leke also provided 14 solar powered boreholes across his constituency people and as well distributed 200 water pumps to them.

Leke alo constructed 380– capacity ICT centre, in isanlu ,and also distributed tables and chairs to some schools as well as building of six standard class rooms and examination hall to the people of his constituency.
He also donated sienna bus to federation of yagba students union and 100 laptops to them.

The Lawmaker distributed 20,000 textbooks to public primary school pupils and junior secondary school students across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas.

He also paid scholarship to 46 students in polytechnics, schools of nursing, colleges of education and universities across nigeria.

the chairman custom and excise duties also distributed 40 tricycles across his constituents.

Leke distributed 60 motorcycles across yagba east, yagba west and mopamuro lgas,and provided
empowerment to artisans and rural entrepreneurs

He distributed 70 clippers, and 500 grinding machines to his people.

As well as provided 200 hair dryers machines and 100 mechanical/electrical tools.

Hon. Leke provided 70 industrial sewing machines and 500 industrial machines,
with 500 generators
and 250kva generator to national Union of Journalist kogi state branch.

He provided employment to 34 youths in different agencies and parastatals.

The need to harmonise the issuance and sale of emblems and stickers on commercial motor vehicles throughout the country.
The need to urgently address the unabated daily kidnapping, killings, banditry and armed robbery along the abuja-lokoja-kabba federal road.
The need to prioritize the payment of salaries, entitlements, and arrears of workers and pensioners in kogi state.

The need to reverse the nigeria customs ban on the use of barges for the evacuation of containers and other cargoes to and from the ports.
The need to phase out unpainted taxis in the federal capital territory transport system.

The need for the central bank of nigeria to suspend the implementation of guidelines on the introduction of e-evaluator, and e-invoicing for imports and exports in nigeria.

The need to audit, and reconcile receipts and remittances of custom duties and levies by collecting banks about customs area commands collections across the seaports, airports, land borders and bonded terminals.
Others are the need for incessant and arbitral breach of presidential directives on the suspension of top management and executive committee members of the nigeria social insurance trust fund (nsitf) and other government agencies by the ministers.
The need to resolve the debacle between the CBN technical committee on CISS and adani mega systems ltd hindering the take-off of the nigeria customs service e-customs modernisation project.
The need to declare a state of emergency on access roads to apapa, tincan island, ptml, and kirikiri lighter terminal commands, and the need to investigate the lack of transparency on the transfer of technical know-how from cotecna destination inspection ltd to global scan systems ltd which led to the collapse of multimillion euro scanners at Nigeria’s ports and border stations.
The need to invite the inec chairman to brief the house committees on electoral matters and appropriation on the actual cost of direct primaries for possible consideration in the 2022 budget.
The need for independent national electoral commission (inec) to develop mechanism to clean up its system of dead and fictitious registered voters.
