The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has hailed the people of the State for making his ambition and dream to lead the State a reality.
He described the people of the State as kingmakers to whom he owe responsibility.
Otti spoke at a town hall gathering with the residents and stakeholders of Abia Central, which was arranged to commemorate his first anniversary in office. Umuahia South, Umuahia North, Ikwuano, Isialangwa North, and South and Osisioma Local Government Areas make up Abia Central.
The event took place at the International Conference Center Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, Abia State.
Otti declared that power is the exclusive domain of God in a speech titled “A Meeting with King Makers.”
“You are the ones that made me a governor, without you I wouldn’t have been here. You are the ones we are answerable to. I therefore owe my responsibility to you all individually, and collectively, noting that power belongs to God and no body can boast of that,” he said.
He thanked the mayors, the members of the national and state assembly, for the success of the programme.
The governor stated that all the concerns of the people are duly noted and not treated with levity, noting that his administration is still too young and they cannot be doing the same thing over and over and achieve the same results.
Otti implored them in the to be actively involved, “make suggestions, and ask questions, we want you to be active participants in the governing process.”
He reaffirmed that the days of the government allocating funds and sharing them on the table are long gone and that things will not continue as usual. “We pledged that we must use the riches of the people to work for the people,” asserted the chief executive of Abia, defending the legitimacy of his administration’s inauguration.
