Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has introduced a free bus service to ease transportation across the state. The initiative, launched through the Edo City Transport Service, aims to support residents and alleviate transportation challenges.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the initiative was highlighted as a key part of the Okpebholo administration’s efforts to improve public welfare.
The free bus service will operate within Benin City as well as across the three Senatorial Districts of Edo State, covering both intra- and intercity routes. Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the scheme is designed to ease the transportation burden for residents, allowing them to travel within Benin City and beyond without any financial strain.
The bus service will extend to various towns and communities in the state, including Ekpoma, Iruekpen, Irrua, Uromi, Agbede, Auchi, Okpella, and Fugar, among others in Edo Central and Edo North.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed that this initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to enhancing the daily lives of Edo residents.
