Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised concerns over the absence of clear identity and ideology among political parties in Nigeria. He highlighted this issue during the inauguration of the party’s zonal coordinators across the country.
Ganduje emphasized the need for a transformation in the political landscape, stating that the current situation of parties lacking distinct identity and ideology has led to frequent defections.
The newly appointed zonal coordinators, assigned to oversee the six geo-political zones of the country, include prominent governors such as Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo for the South-East, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara for the North-Central, and Gov. Mai Mala Buni for the North-East, among others.
Their primary responsibilities entail initiating reconciliation processes with aggrieved members, mobilizing governors for active participation in party activities, and facilitating resource mobilization for the party’s advancement.
Ganduje stressed the importance of ensuring that APC offices at all levels remain operational throughout the year, emphasizing the need for continuous engagement and activity from grassroots to state levels.
In response, Gov. Uzodimma, who also chairs the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), lauded the party leadership for the innovative initiative, emphasizing the importance of inclusive participation and grassroots engagement to enhance party unity and progress.
