In recent operations, personnel from the Nigerian Army and Navy engaged in a fierce battle with fighters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Ejemekuru, Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State. This clash, which occurred shortly after a similar confrontation in Orsu Local Government Area, resulted in the successful neutralization of five IPOB fighters.
During the operation, the security forces seized a significant cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, two pump-action semi-automatic rifles, and various other firearms. Additionally, they confiscated two motorbikes, mobile handsets, and a camouflage jungle hat from the hideouts of the insurgents.
In a separate but equally important operation conducted in the North West region, troops responded swiftly to a distress call in Tsohuwar Tasha area of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, Zamfara State. Engaging kidnappers in a shootout, the vigilant troops rescued 15 kidnapped victims, compelling the kidnappers to abandon their hostages unharmed as they fled into the forest.
These successful operations underscore the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian security forces to combating insurgency and ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the nation. Such decisive actions exemplify their dedication to maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians.
