Singer and reality sensation Whitemoney has said that when he becomes well-known worldwide, Nigerians will regret not supporting his musical career. Whitemoney drew comparisons between himself and Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, pointing out that while Nigerians first questioned Burna Boy’s ability, they eventually came to adore him as an inspiration.
In a recent interview with Echoo Room, Whitemoney warned that Nigerian event promoters will regret the day they didn’t support him once he attains global recognition.
He said:
“Nigerian promoters did the same thing they are doing to me to Burna Boy and Davido. They don’t believe in their sounds but when the outsiders [foreigners] are appreciating you, they [Nigerians] would be forced to now believe in you and they will pay times two.
“Nigerian promoters will regret not supporting my music. Your only prayer should be that I shouldn’t make it in this music industry because if I make it, you all will pay.”
He asserted that he has no competitors in the music industry, emphasizing that his style of music is truly unique.
“I’m a king in my lane. For me, nobody rivals my talent. You’re good in your way but me I am the king. That’s why I have my own genre. I don’t do Afrobeats or highlife. My genre is Kumkum,” he said.
Whitemoney was earlier crucified for claiming that he pays his 150 staff 5 years advance. During a recent appearance on the Echo Room podcast, Whitemoney confirmed the surprising claim, stating that this approach helps him avoid the stress of keeping track of payments.
