The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has confirmed its full participation in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for October 9, 2024. The party’s chairman, Rufus Bature, made the announcement during a stakeholders’ meeting in Jos, expressing confidence in the APC’s preparedness and potential to secure a convincing victory.
Mr. Bature highlighted the proactive steps taken by the party since the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) announced its readiness to conduct the elections. He explained that the APC quickly appointed a desk officer and assigned key officials to monitor PLASIEC’s activities closely. According to him, the party’s preparations, including the sale of forms, screening of aspirants, and the conduct of primary elections, have been transparent, peaceful, and credible.
He also emphasized the importance of unity within the party and the need to capitalize on the perceived shortcomings of the current People’s Democratic Party (PDP) administration in the state. Meanwhile, former Governor Simon Lalong praised the peaceful conduct of the APC primaries and urged stakeholders to work diligently towards winning the local government elections, describing it as a crucial test for the party’s strength at the grassroots level.
