The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced plans to administer the Senior School Certificate Examinations (SSCE) internally in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This decision comes after the successful accreditation of Nigeria International School, Jeddah, by a delegation led by the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, and the Registrar of NECO, Prof. Dantani Wushishi.
According to a statement released by NECO’s Acting Director of Information and Digital Communication, Azeez Sani, the delegation conducted an extensive assessment of the school facilities during their visit.
During the accreditation process, the delegation evaluated various aspects including examination halls, classrooms, laboratories, library, curriculum, syllabus, and overall security. Based on the findings, the Nigeria International School, Jeddah, was deemed suitable to serve as an International Centre for NECO SSCE Internal examinations and was granted full accreditation.
Addressing the staff and students of the school, Minister Sununu emphasized the importance of maintaining a positive image of Nigeria not only in Saudi Arabia but across the entire Gulf States Cooperation Council.
NECO Registrar, Prof. Wushishi, highlighted the significance of school accreditation to ensure that educational institutions have adequate facilities conducive for examinations.
During their visit, the delegation was warmly received by the Consular General, Amb. Bello Kazaure, and the proprietor of the school, Abdulkadir Maikudi, along with other staff members. Additionally, they visited the Nigeria House in Jeddah, where they engaged with consulate officials.
This move further expands NECO’s international presence, joining other examination centers in countries such as Togo, Benin Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Niger, and the Republic of Gabon.
