A man identified as Anaegbuachara from the Amaeze community in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, has confessed to poisoning his mother, grandmother, sister, and her child in an alleged bid to carry out a money ritual.
The shocking incident, which has thrown the community into turmoil, was shared in a viral video posted on Facebook by a user, Sen Chijinkem Ugwuanyi. The video showed the suspect being interrogated by members of his community.
According to reports, Anaegbuachara admitted that a friend, known as Morroco, introduced him to a native doctor in Nsukka, originally from Kogi State, who instructed him to sacrifice his mother for wealth. He allegedly poisoned his mother’s food to fulfill the ritual.
Tragically, his grandmother, sister, and her two children happened to visit on the day of the poisoning and unknowingly consumed the tainted meal. While his sister and one of her children succumbed to the poison, a male child survived but is said to be mentally unstable.
Outraged community members paraded the suspect and forced him to kneel at his mother’s grave to beg for forgiveness. A source confirmed that Anaegbuachara is now in police custody, along with the native doctor allegedly involved in the ritual.
This chilling incident has left many questioning the role of substance abuse, with some speculating that drug use may have influenced his actions. The community remains in shock, grappling with the enormity of the tragedy.
