Empowerment is the cornerstone of personal and societal progress, enabling individuals to achieve their goals and navigate complex challenges. Recognizing the importance of empowering girls, The Maurice Akueme Foundation (MAF) took action by establishing a girl-based organization under its umbrella to promote gender equality and uplift young women.
On March 15th, 2024, the Maurice Akueme Foundation visited Community High School, Obioma, to provide comprehensive empowerment support to female students. Through tailored programs encompassing 1-2-1 mentoring, entrepreneurship training, skill acquisition, hygiene education, time management, and leadership development, the foundation aimed to equip these students with the tools and confidence needed to shape their futures.
Mrs. Chioma Ozongwu, the principal of Community High School, Obioma, expressed her gratitude to the Maurice Akueme Foundation for their impactful intervention. She highlighted the positive influence on the students’ character, learning, and skill acquisition, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in preparing the girl child for future success.
The establishment of the Girls Empowerment Initiative Club further solidifies MAF’s commitment to empowering young women. Through this initiative, MAF has empowered over 7,000 girls, fostering confidence and leadership skills essential for becoming future woman leaders.
MAF believes that investing in the empowerment of women and girls is key to driving positive change in society. By providing support, opportunities, and advocacy, women and girls can amplify their voices, advocate for their communities, and contribute to building a more equitable and prosperous future for all.
