Four-Year Prison Sentence Handed to Internet Fraudsters in Borno Court

A Federal High Court in Maiduguri, Borno State, has handed down a four-year prison sentence to two individuals convicted of internet fraud, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a statement posted on its official handle on Wednesday, the EFCC revealed that the Maiduguri Zonal Command of the agency secured the conviction on Tuesday.

The convicted individuals, Omachile Gabriel (alias Priest Tamara Shane) and Micah Njawindumai (alias Edgar David, Oldmangt, Professional Hacker), were charged separately with money laundering offenses.

Gabriel was charged with possession of approximately $30.00, believed to be proceeds from impersonating Priestess Tamara Shane. Both defendants pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them.

Presiding judge Justice J.K Dagat sentenced each of them to four years in prison for their involvement in internet-related offenses. Additionally, the court ordered the forfeiture of the recovered $30.00 and electronic devices, including phones and laptops, to the government.
