President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday formally elevated Acting Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, to the rank of Lieutenant General. The brief decoration ceremony took place at the President’s office in the State House, Abuja.
A statement from the President’s Communications Team confirmed the promotion, saying, “President Tinubu decorates Acting Chief of Army Staff, Oluyede, as Lt. General.”
Oluyede was appointed as Acting Chief of Army Staff last Wednesday following an extended period of absence by his predecessor, Taoreed Lagbaja, due to health reasons. Prior to this appointment, Oluyede held the rank of Major General.
The event was attended by Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, along with other top military officials.
