Rt. Hon. Cyriacus Umeha played a pivotal role in the first retreat of the House of Representatives Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State. This retreat marks the beginning of a series dedicated to amending the constitution, with a goal to finalize the first set of amendments by December 2025.
At the retreat, Rt. Hon. Umeha actively participated in discussions where Committee members reviewed reports from consultants on previous constitutional amendment bills. His contributions were crucial in deliberating on the bills that had been rejected or not signed into law, helping to formulate strategies to address the reasons for their rejection.
