Ohanaeze calls for restructuring of INEC, says Igbo political future lies with youths

The apex Igbo sociocultural organization further emphasized that the political future of the Southeast region is inextricably related to its youth in a statement released by its factional Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro.
Additionally, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, was praised by the body for his boldness in the polls.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has to be restructured, according to the Igbo sociocultural organization Ohanaeze Ndigbo, which is at the top.

Ohanaeze has underlined the need for an extensive reform of INEC, stressing the significance of openness and accountability inside the institution.

In a statement, the apex Igbo sociocultural organization further emphasized that the political future of the Southeast region is inextricably related to its youth, as stated by its factional Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro.

Isiguzoro asserts: “INEC needs to immediately undergo a top-to-bottom restructuring, guaranteeing accountability and transparency, in order to restore confidence in the electoral process.”

“The flaws witnessed during the 2023 elections necessitate swift action to regain the trust of the Nigerian people.

“The political future of Ndigbo lies in the hands of our youth. They must proactively build bridges across regions, fostering unity and cooperation.

According to Isiguzoro: “To restore confidence in the electoral process, INEC must undergo an immediate top-to-bottom restructuring, ensuring accountability and transparency.

“The flaws witnessed during the 2023 elections necessitate swift action to regain the trust of the Nigerian people.

“The political future of Ndigbo lies in the hands of our youth. They must proactively build bridges across regions, fostering unity and cooperation.

“It is through their concerted efforts that Ndigbo can aim for the presidency in 2031, contributing their unique perspectives and advocating for a fair and inclusive Nigeria.”

The body also commended the 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, for his bravery during the polls.

“We commend Peter Gregory Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, for his remarkable display of bravery. By transforming a silent political party into a viable third force, he has elevated the bar of political consciousness among Nigerians.

“After years of dwindling confidence in the electoral process, his efforts have ignited hope and inspired many to actively participate in politics,” he added.
