Imo State Police Parade 15 Suspects Arrested in Forest Raid

Seized items included a POS machine used to demand money, a Guinea fowl decorated with fetish items, and various denominations of Biafran currency.

The Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Command, announced on Thursday the arrest of 15 suspected terrorists in a forest located in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of the state.

While parading the suspects, Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma assured both the residents of the state and those in the diaspora intending to return home for the yuletide celebration

The daring raid, executed with precision by the law enforcement agencies, took place in the dense and remote forests of Ngor Okpala. The suspects were reportedly using the area as a hideout for their nefarious activities. Commissioner Aboki Danjuma emphasized the commitment of the police force to ensuring the safety and security of the residents in the state.

During the operation, the police recovered various weapons, including an AK-47 rifle with 21 rounds of live ammunition, charms, a cut-to-size double barrel short gun, four locally made short guns, three rounds of live ammunition, substances suspected to be cannabis sativa and hard drugs, a militia camouflage T-Shirt, and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from the suspects.

While parading the suspects, Commissioner Aboki Danjuma took the opportunity to reassure both the residents of the state and those in the diaspora intending to return home for the Yuletide celebration. He emphasized the commitment of the police force to maintaining a secure environment during the festive season, ensuring that citizens can celebrate without fear of security threats.

Additionally, items like a Guinea fowl adorned with fetish items, a POS device used for extorting money, and various denominations of Biafran currency were seized.

While parading the suspects, Commissioner of Police Aboki Danjuma assured both the residents of the state and those in the diaspora intending to return home for the Yuletide celebration of enhanced safety and security during and after the Christmas period.

The CP emphasized that the arrest of the 15 suspects was a result of continued investigations following revelations from a notable IPOB/ESN suspect recently apprehended by the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad.

“On searching the suspects and their hideout, one AK-47 rifle loaded with 21 rounds of live ammunition, charms, one cut-to-size double barrel short gun, four locally made short guns, three rounds of live ammunition, weeds suspected to be cannabis sativa, a suspected hard drug substance, one militia camouflage T-shirt, one improvised explosive device (IED), one Guinea fowl with fetish items on it, one POS device used in extorting money from their potential victims, and various denominations of Biafra currency were recovered.

“The suspects will be arraigned in court upon completion of a comprehensive investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, assured the good people of Imo State of the Command’s unalloyed determination in ensuring that the entire length and breadth of the state is adequately protected and free from all forms of violent crimes.
