Some of the “often asked” questions by the potential applicants were addressed in the post. Citizens “convicted of fraud and forgery, drug crimes, cultism, felony, or any charges involving dishonesty” will not be eligible to apply, according to NELFUND.
Anybody “proved to have defaulted in respect of any previous loan provided” by any authorized financial institution and anyone “found guilty of submitting fake/fraudulent documents and dismissed for test malpractices by any school authority” are among the other applicants whose applications would be denied. According to the DAILY POST, NELFUND made the application portal available to students at federal universities nationwide on Friday for the first round of the student loan program.
One important step in ensuring that the loan facility is used wisely and successfully is the Nigerian government’s announcement of the criteria for ineligibility for the student loan scheme. To ensure honesty, accountability, and openness in the use of public funds, the government has prohibited those with dubious pasts, criminal histories, and dubious antecedents from applying for the loan. By taking this action, the government is reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that all Nigerians have access to high-quality education while protecting public resources for future generations.
