Nigerian Comic Actor Papa Ajasco (Femi Ogunrombi) Is Dead

Nigerians have taken to social media to mourn the death of a comic actor Femi Ogunrombi who is very popular in the country for his stage name Papa Ajasco.

Papa Ajasco and Company is a Nigerian family television sitcom created by Wale Adenuga in the year 1996. The show is a spin-off of a feature film of the same title produced by Wale Adenuga in 1984, which in turn is based on the comic Ikebe Super.

The movie is one of the most popular comic movies that children born in the early nineties in the country enjoyed while growing up.

Femi Ogunrombi who was referred to as Papa Ajasco in the movie was an actor, singer, highlifist and trained a nurse.

He studied music and drama at the Obafemi Awolowo University in the early 80s. He was a multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, composer, actor, producer and director of music/film.

While at OAU, he founded and conducted a Choral group called The Ayoro Voices. This group was the cultural image of the University between 1980 and 1983 respectively.

Femi Ogunrombi (2nd Papa Ajasco) in 2006 joined the popular TV comedy program as Papa Ajasco replacing the former character Abiodun Ayoyinka in the Wale Adenuga Productions comedy show Papa Ajasco. He became the Coordinator of Studies for his PEFTI film Institute while filming Papa Ajasco.

He died in the evening of Saturday 14th January 2023.
