The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has cleared the air about the registration status of some products circulating in the public.
Fake and substandard products pose a significant threat to public health and safety, with potentially severe consequences for consumers. From pharmaceuticals to consumables, the infiltration of fake products into the market has been a persistent challenge. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, NAFDAC has chosen to confront the issue head-on by addressing the concerns surrounding the registration status of certain products.
The official statement released by NAFDAC emphasizes its commitment to ensuring the safety and efficacy of products available on the market. According to Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director-General of NAFDAC, the agency is aware of the circulating misinformation and rumors regarding the registration status of some products. The statement serves as a clarion call to dispel any doubts and to provide accurate information to the public.
Product registration is a critical aspect of NAFDAC’s regulatory framework. It involves a thorough evaluation of the composition, safety, and efficacy of products before they are allowed into the market. Registered products bear the NAFDAC seal, signifying compliance with established standards. This process not only safeguards the health of consumers but also ensures fair competition among manufacturers and distributors.
NAFDAC’s proactive response to the issue underscores its commitment to vigilance and regulatory oversight. The agency employs a multifaceted approach to monitor and regulate products, including routine inspections, testing, and collaboration with other regulatory bodies. By staying ahead of potential issues, NAFDAC aims to prevent the infiltration of fake products and swiftly address any concerns that may arise.

The Director-General urges the public to verify the authenticity of product registration by checking for the NAFDAC seal and using the agency’s online platforms for confirmation.
This is according to a statement signed by its Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, and issued to newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.
She listed the products as Cway Drinking Water, Eva Premium Table Water, Peak Full Cream Instant Milk Powder, and Golden Penny Pasta Spaghetti.
According to her, it became imperative to clear the air following reports claiming that the agency was “watching while the manufacturers of those products flaunt expired licenses.”.
She said that the Director, Food Registration and Regulatory Affairs, of the agency investigated the erroneous claims and found that the registration status of all four products mentioned in “the mischievous write-up” was valid.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Cway Drinking Water, Eva Premium Table Water, Peak Full Cream Instant Milk Powder, and Golden Penny Pasta Spaghetti all have valid registration,” she said.
