She relived the harrowing incident in an interview with comedian and movie maker Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, on her show recently.

In her recent interview with AY, Toke Makinwa courageously revisited the haunting memories of that fateful day. As she unfolded the layers of her past, it became evident that the scars left by the fire were not merely physical but also emotional, shaping the contours of her fears and aspirations.

To lose one’s parents is a profound sorrow, but to witness their departure in the consuming inferno of a fire is a tragedy that transcends the ordinary. Toke Makinwa’s journey through grief and healing serves as an inspiration to many who grapple with their own adversities. Her ability to confront the abyss of loss and emerge stronger speaks to the resilience that lies within the human spirit.

While the fire took away her parents, it did not extinguish the flame of Toke Makinwa’s spirit. In the crucible of adversity, she forged a determination to rise above the ashes. The experience became a catalyst for personal growth, inspiring her to navigate life’s challenges with grace and fortitude. Toke’s story reminds us that even in the darkest moments, there is an opportunity for resilience and renewal.

Toke had asked her guest about a recent fire incident at his Lagos residence, spurring her to share a similar experience about her family many years ago.

Recall that AY’s house in Lagos was gutted by fire in August.

Toke said, “I’ve been a victim of a house fire since I was a kid, and unfortunately, both my parents died as a result of that. That’s one of my biggest fears.”

AY responded, “Sorry about that. I’m just hearing it for the first time.”

He stated that he was on tour in Canada when his house went up in flames, adding that he woke up to a lot of missed calls.

“Knowing fully well that my family were on holidays, that was my point of thanksgiving.

“I woke up to about 78 missed calls that day. Any time I see something like that, I just know something has happened. I opened my phone and saw my house on Instablog.”

According to him, the fire erupted from the rooftop and was caused by electrical fault. He said he lost cash amongst other valuable possessions, which perished in the inferno
