On Sunday night, a group of terrorists launched a brazen attack on the Kajuru-Station community in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the abduction of 87 people. This distressing development was confirmed by Harisu Dari, a member of the Kajuru-Station Youths, during an interview in Kaduna on Monday.
According to Harisu, the assailants not only kidnapped numerous villagers but also ransacked shops, looting food items and other valuables. The invasion occurred around 10 pm, plunging the community into turmoil and fear.
This incident comes in the wake of another abduction just two days prior, where 15 women and a man were taken from the Dogon-Noma community within the same local government area. The recurring pattern of kidnappings has turned Kajuru and Chikun Local Government Areas into focal points of insecurity, heightening tensions across the state.
As of now, there has been no communication established with the 87 abducted locals, exacerbating the anxiety and distress among the affected community members. Harisu emphasized the lack of security presence in the area, underscoring the urgent need for government intervention and enhanced security measures to reassure and protect the villagers.
The situation has become increasingly dire, with reports indicating that within a span of two weeks, terrorists have abducted over 172 villagers in the region. Despite attempts to reach out to the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, for comment, there has been no response, leaving many questions unanswered and underscoring the urgency of addressing the escalating security challenges in Kaduna State.
