American singer-songwriter Kehlani Ashley Parrish, popularly known as Kehlani, has spoken out about the professional setbacks she faced due to her public support for Palestine.
In a recent interview with ‘Breakfast Club,’ Kehlani revealed that her advocacy led to lost opportunities and deals.
Kehlani shared that she experienced significant pushback and loss, including the cancellation of promised magazine features, brand deals, and other opportunities.
She said she has no remorse about it and that she can sleep at night knowing that her actions are in line with her artistic training.
In her words:
“I have experienced a lot of pushback.
“I’ve experienced a lot of loss. I’ve experienced a lot of things that were promised and set up for this rollout and album to happen, supposed to be a lot of ‘firsts’… magazines and these things… brand deals and opportunities that we’re sad to lose. But at the end of the day, I don’t regret doing something that I… I can go to sleep at night. I can go to sleep knowing that, like, what I’ve learned to be as an artist, I’m aligned with.”
This information was made public by Kehlani following her May 29 Instagram post endorsing Palestine, as well as her May 31 music video for “Next 2 U,” which included the Palestinian flag. Her efforts contributed to the $500,000 raised for the Gaza, Congo, and Sudanese people. Singer Kehlani came out as homosexual in public a few months ago. This was revealed by the singer on Thursday, April 22. In a video, she declared, “I am gay ga-gay gay gay!!!” Kehlani claims that although she has been attempting to have private discussions about coming out with her family and friends, they are not particularly surprised.
She said her loved ones told her they’ve known for a while because “the f**king closet was glass.”
