Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has suspended his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Civil Societies, Mr. Emmanuel Adebisi, over allegations of diverting 70 bags of rice.
The suspension follows claims made by the civil society coalition in Osun State. The coalition’s Secretary, Mr. Olowu Emmanuel, revealed that rice bags, reportedly collected in the coalition’s name, were never delivered.
“There has never been a time, since the coming of this administration, that anything meant for civil societies was delivered. Not even palliatives meant to alleviate suffering among the people of the State,” Olowu stated.
It was reported that the governor’s aide diverted the rice bags under the pretense of delivering them to the civil society coalition office.
In response to the allegations, Adebisi took to his verified Facebook page to deny the suspension.
“The claims suggesting that I, Emmanuel Adebisi, have been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false. I continue to serve diligently in my capacity as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State, with an unwavering commitment to my responsibilities. Any insinuation of my involvement in misconduct, particularly relating to the alleged diversion of 70 bags of rice intended for Osun Civil Societies during the Eid-el-Kabir festival, is entirely baseless and without merit. It is the handiwork of some bitter politicians, and I challenge anyone with facts on this to bring them out,” Adebisi stated.
However, a statement from Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed the suspension.
“The Governor has directed the immediate suspension of the Senior Special Assistant on Civil Societies, Mr. Emmanuel Adebisi, pending the outcome of investigations by the Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Mr. Kazeem Akinleye,” the statement read.
