Controversial IG blog Gistlovers continues to rant and laugh at the Nigerian Police Force after reports about its operators being arrested.
The Nigeria Police Force previously announced that, in response to a petition filed by Honorable and Doctor Mrs. Seye Oladejo, they had detained the principal figures and owner of Gistlover Blog.
Taking to its IG page, the blog mocked the Nigerian police, asking that they provide evidence that the people nabbed were operators of Gistlovers blog.
Gistlovers’ challenge to the police to provide evidence is a bold move that puts the spotlight on the importance of accountability in legal proceedings. In an era where information travels at the speed of a click, it becomes imperative to scrutinize claims made by authoritative figures, including law enforcement agencies. Gistlovers seem to be leveraging the power of social media to question the narrative presented by the police and to assert their innocence in the court of public opinion.
The ongoing saga also raises questions about the blurred lines between freedom of expression, online journalism, and legal boundaries. Gistlovers, known for its controversial content, has been a source of both fascination and concern for its audience. The arrests and subsequent response have fueled discussions about the limits of freedom of speech in the digital age and the responsibilities that come with operating on public platforms.
The arrests, connected to a case involving Conspiracy, Cyberstalking, and Threats to life, were made in collaboration with the police force’s spokesperson, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The individuals in custody have been identified as Adebukola Kolapo, Nnedum Micheal Somtomchukwu, and Isaac Akpokighe, allegedly part of a syndicate known as Gistlover family.
Reacting to this, Gistlovers who appears to still be a free man took to IG to lambast Nigerian police for arresting the wrong men.
Gistlovers averred that the police were using the boys to chase clout, adding that they were simply oppressing the poor.
Writing, the blog stated:
“ATI LINDA 000. Gistlovers is not backing down. The platform’s decision to break its silence and challenge the arrest reports indicates a determination to control the narrative and maintain a strong online presence. Whether this strategy will prove successful in the face of legal proceedings is yet to be seen, but the saga serves as a compelling case study in the complex relationship between social media, the law, and the court of public opinion.
