The French Football Federation has revealed that Kylian Mbappe, the captain of France, had an injury during Monday’s 1-0 Euro 2024 victory over Austria, and that his diagnosis is a broken nose. “Kylian Mbappé suffered a broken nose during the second part of the Austria-France match this Monday in Düsseldorf,” the FFF stated in a statement on Tuesday.
It added, “The captain of France was treated first by the medical staff and Dr. Franck Le Gall, who diagnosed him with a nose fracture.”
However, in a boost for the 2018 World Cup winners, the federation revealed that the striker will not require surgery.
“Mbappé will receive treatment in the next few days, but he will not undergo surgery in the immediate future.
“A mask will be made for him so that the number 10 of the French national team can prepare for his return to the competition after a period dedicated to treatment,” the statement added.
France’s participation in Euro 2024 ultimately came to an end when they were eliminated from the competition in the quarterfinals. In their last games, they were severely lacking Mbappe’s influence, finding it difficult to resurrect the attacking intensity of their previous performances. Mbappe saw the competition as evidence of his tenacity and will to compete at the greatest level in spite of obstacles encountered.
Kylian Mbappe’s fractured nose was reduced to a footnote in the tournament’s overall story following Euro 2024. The injury clearly had an impact on his and France’s performance, but it also highlighted the perils and physical demands of playing football at the highest level. A pivotal moment in the complex tapestry of athletic drama that is Euro 2024, Mbappe’s bravery in the face of adversity continues to be remembered by both fans and players alike as they consider the highs and lows of the competition.
