Davido openly requested Bitcoin as a wedding gift from guests who preferred not to spray cash.

The well-known artist informed his hundreds of guests about the recommended currencies for wedding gifts at the ceremony, which was held yesterday. The attendees were first told by the master of ceremonies, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, that they might make gift contributions in pounds, euros, or dollars.

Davido, however, rejected the possibility of accepting cash in the future and added another alternative by saying that he also accepts Bitcoin transfers.

In his words;

“I’m accepting Bitcoin as a gift if you can’t spray naira and I no want OBO I go give you tomorrow, I no want that one”

In other developments, David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, is an Afrobeats artist who has shared a vision of himself that his father, Deji Adeleke, informed him about. The “OBO” crooner claimed that his father informed him that he would quit his musical career as a gospel singer based on a vision he had received. On Tuesday, June 25, Davido revealed this in conversation with a few guests at his wedding.

Fans and the media alike were interested in Davido’s lavish traditional wedding to Chioma Rowland. Davido is a superstar, thus the occasion had all the extravagance and splendor one could want for. Hundreds of people attended the ceremony yesterday, including well-known figures from the entertainment business and other fields. Davido’s request for Bitcoin stood out among the festivities and generated a lot of talk online.

Renowned master of ceremonies Ebuka Obi-Uchendu spoke to the guests on the appropriate types of wedding gifts throughout the event. First, he brought up traditional money—dollars, euros, and pounds—that are frequently offered at well-known Nigerian weddings. But Davido used the microphone to make a request of his own, saying he would rather have Bitcoin.

People reacted to this statement with curiosity and amazement in equal measure. Davido, who is renowned for his innovative and often unorthodox methods, clarified that Bitcoin was a more useful and practical present option. He highlighted the advantages of cryptocurrencies, including their potential for value appreciation over time and their expanding global acceptability.

Undoubtedly, Davido’s request for Bitcoin as a wedding gift created a sensation, demonstrating his special ability to combine tradition and contemporary. Though opinions on his decision are divided, it has spurred a crucial discussion about how cultural norms are changing in the digital age. The role that cryptocurrencies play in customary ceremonies and festivities will probably attract more attention and discussion as they continue to gain traction.

Beyond merely being a matter of taste, Davido’s desire for a wedding gift is a symbol of the larger cultural trends toward financial modernization and digital innovation. His choice has once again thrust him to the center of a cultural debate, drawing attention to both his impact and the dynamic character of modern Nigerian culture, regardless of the reaction to it.
