
The Portuguese coach Fernando Santos has hinted that their point man Christiano Ronaldo may not start in their match against Morroco tomorrow, Friday 9th, 2022.
The coach said that Christiano is still an integral part of the team despite all the rumors spreading about the Portuguese captain having issues with the national team.
Recall that the Portuguese captain started from the bench in their victorious 6-1 win against the Switzerland in their last match.
Cristiano Ronaldo was ready to walk out of Portugal’s World Cup squad when he was dropped against Switzerland. He was left fuming after tense talks with Fernando Santos, according to the Record.
The Portuguese FA has also denied that Cristiano Ronaldo threatened to leave Qatar after being benched vs. Switzerland, debunking all the news, trending about the problems happening amongst the Portuguese national team and Ronaldo. At no time did Cristiano threaten to leave, they said.
Fernando Santos on Cristiano Ronaldo: “There is no problem with our captain. We’ve been friends for years. We spoke before the game and he had no issue with my decision. He’s an example.”
The Portugal national team has been doing incredibly well at this world cup without the presence of their captain Christiano Ronaldo on the field. Benching him, won’t be a bad idea since their team has young, vibrant and brilliant players who can help their team achieve their goals.
