Twenty-three-year-old Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa contestant representing Taraba State, has been crowned Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The announcement was made by Guy Murray-Bruce, President of the Silverbird Group, during the grand finale held at Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos on Saturday.
Adetshina emerged victorious from a field of 25 contestants, securing the grand prize of N10 million. Her journey to this triumph was not without challenges, including her controversial withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition. Adetshina faced xenophobic backlash due to her Nigerian nationality, as well as scrutiny over her heritage and allegations against her mother related to identity theft.
Despite these obstacles, Adetshina pursued her pageantry dreams by returning to Nigeria to compete in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, where she ultimately found success.
The top three winners were announced as follows: Miss Ondo was named Miss Lush, Miss Anambra was declared the first runner-up Miss Supranational, and Chidimma Adetshina took the overall winner’s title.
As the newly crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Adetshina will represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe 2024 pageant, scheduled for November 16 in Mexico.
