Super Eagles Return Home Amid Libyan Ordeal

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived back in the country from Libya, landing at the Aminu Kano International Airport on Monday night.

The players and their officials were stranded at Al Abaq Airport in Libya for several hours after arriving in the North African country on Sunday. Read more on this here.

Due to the inhumane treatment the players endured, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) decided to withdraw from the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match, which was initially scheduled to take place in Benina on Tuesday. Read more on this here.

In response to the distressing situation faced by the Super Eagles, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has initiated an investigation. CAF is in contact with both Libyan and Nigerian authorities regarding the players’ ordeal and has referred the matter to its Disciplinary Board to address any violations of CAF Statutes and Regulations.
