The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, has announced a new policy prohibiting the admission of candidates under the age of 18 into tertiary institutions across the country.
This directive was made public during the 2024 policy meeting of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
“Effective immediately, there is a ban on admitting students under the age of 18 into our tertiary institutions for the 2024 admissions,” stated Prof. Mamman.
The Federal Government is now contemplating setting 18 years as the minimum age requirement for admission into universities and other tertiary educational institutions.
