Former lawmaker and ex-Senate Committee Chairman on Information and Media, Senator Ayogu Eze, has passed away at the age of 66.
Senator Ayogu Eze, who represented the Enugu North Senatorial District from 2007 to 2015, breathed his last on Thursday, April 25, at an Abuja hospital following a prolonged illness.
During his tenure in the National Assembly, spanning eight years, Senator Eze played a significant role in the legislative process. He notably served as a member of the constitution drafting and amendment committee, contributing to crucial changes in Nigeria’s 1999 constitution.
In addition to his legislative duties, he assumed leadership roles within the Senate, including his appointment as chairman of the Senate Committee on Works after his reelection in 2011.
Throughout his tenure, his contributions extended beyond his committee responsibilities. He also served as a member of various committees, including those on Police Affairs, National Planning, Marine Transport, and Federal Character & Inter-Government Affairs.
Born on November 23, 1958, Senator Ayogu Eze dedicated his life to public service, representing the interests of the Enugu North Senatorial District with dedication and commitment. His passing leaves behind a legacy of service and contributions to the Nigerian legislative landscape.
