In a tragic early morning assault on Friday, suspected Boko Haram militants attacked Faudiya Islamic School in Geidam Local Government Area, Yobe State, killing three students. The incident, reported by the Yobe State Police Command, occurred around 3:45 a.m.
Police spokesperson Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed that the attackers arrived on motorcycles and were armed with AK-47 rifles and other weapons. Initially, the assailants aimed to abduct students but opted to kill them on the spot to avoid the complexity of transporting them.
One student who attempted to flee was injured and has been hospitalized for treatment. Abdulkarim stated, “The divisional police headquarters in Geidam received the report this morning. Our officers responded promptly, recovering three bodies and one injured student who was taken to the hospital.”
According to Abdulkarim, about ten attackers were involved in the raid. They entered the school, killed three students immediately, and wounded one. The injured student reported that the militants had planned to abduct them but chose to kill them instead.
The police are investigating the attack to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind this brutal act.
