It was indeed a sad day for the family and friends of the Belarus foreign minister, Vladimir Makei who died at the age of 64. The official who announced his death didn’t go further in narrating to the general public the cause of his death, but the country’s website Belta announced that he died suddenly (which we can’t say for sure what they mean by that). AzeeRe has learnt that he was meant to meet with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov on Monday before his sudden death. Vladimir Makei who was born on the 5 August 1958 held the position as the Foreign Affairs Minister of Belarus since 2012.
The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko has already expressed his condolences to the family and friends of Makei according to a statement published on the presidential website on Saturday. Other world leaders, including the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have also sent in their condolences as at the time of this publication.
