The Ebonyi Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC) announced on Sunday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious in all positions contested in the state’s local council elections held on Saturday.
EBSIEC Chairman, Jossey Eze, declared that the APC secured all 13 chairmanship seats and 171 ward councillorship positions across the state. Eze highlighted that three political parties—APC, APGA, and LP—participated in the elections.
Eze stated that the commission has ratified and adopted the chairmanship results for the Local Government Areas (LGAs) as announced by the returning officers and the councillorship results declared at the ward level. He expressed satisfaction with the peaceful nature of the elections and commended the security agencies and stakeholders for their support.
“I particularly thank the state government for not interfering in the conduct of the elections, which contributed to making it credible, free, and fair,” Eze said. He added, “The winners should carry everybody along and ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to the grassroots, which the local government areas represent.”
Eze also extended his gratitude to all involved in the election process for their support and encouragement. He reiterated that while the election has concluded, the victory is for everyone who participated.
Among the announced results, Ebere Nwogba won for Abakaliki LGA, Timothy Agha for Afikpo, Chima Ekumamkama for Edda Council, and Chinedu Bernard for Ebonyi LGA. Ezza’s position was secured by Moses Nome, while Sunday Nwankwor won for Ikwo, and Emmanuel Ajah for Ivo.
