The bust monument of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike was destroyed earlier on Tuesday by irate youths at the Obio/Akpor council offices in Rivers State. Young people who were clearly upset and who spoke a mixture of English and the Ikwerre dialect toppled the statue as others applauded them.
After the chairman resigned, the young people who broke into the council headquarters claimed that their conduct was to protect council property. Former Obio/Akpor chairman and former governor of Rivers State, Wike, is involved in a political dispute with Siminalayi Fubara, his former aide and current state governor.

The demolition of Nyesom Wike’s statue serves as a sobering reminder of the difficulties that Nigeria and Rivers State are experiencing. It emphasizes how important it is to handle political, economic, and social issues from a holistic standpoint. To create a more open and transparent political system, the public, civic society, and political leaders must collaborate.
Nyesom Wike’s statue was destroyed in the Obio/Akpor LG Secretariat, which is a noteworthy incident that highlights the larger problems that Nigeria and Rivers State are facing. It draws attention to how urgently social injustice, economic suffering, and political unrest must be addressed. Building a more prosperous and stable society can be achieved through encouraging constructive youth engagement, promoting responsive governance, and fostering dialogue. All parties involved are urged by the incident to take steps in the direction of a future that is more inclusive and equitable.
