The Akwa Ibom Police Command has intensified efforts to enforce a ban on the illegal use of tinted glasses, sirens, and covered number plates, warning motorists against violating these regulations.
In a statement released on Wednesday, spokesperson Timfon John announced the directive from Akwa Ibom’s Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, to crackdown on offenders and ensure strict adherence to road safety standards across the state.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command is taking a firm stance against the use of illegal tinted glasses, sirens, and concealed number plates on vehicles,” stated John. “Commissioner Ayilara emphasized the risks these items pose to public safety and law enforcement efforts. They hinder our ability to identify vehicles involved in criminal activities, jeopardizing the security of Akwa Ibom residents.”
The directive aims to promote compliance with regulations governing vehicle modifications and enhance law enforcement’s ability to maintain public safety. Motorists are urged to comply with these regulations to avoid penalties and contribute to maintaining a secure environment in Akwa Ibom.
John reiterated the command’s commitment to enforcing the law rigorously and called on the public’s cooperation in ensuring adherence to these safety measures.
