A family dispute has erupted among the children of the late MKO Abiola, centering on a £650,000 inheritance that Abdulmumuni Abiola claims is being withheld by his elder brother, Kola.
In a recent appearance on the “Mic On Podcast” hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Abdulmumuni expressed his frustration, stating he would “never forgive” Kola for his actions regarding their father’s estate. He alleged that Kola has refused to distribute the funds to Abiola’s children, despite having conducted blood tests to identify the rightful heirs.
Abdulmumuni detailed the inheritance, revealing that the £650,000 was willed to their father’s first four wives, including his mother, Kudirat Olayinka Abiola, who he claims was allotted £150,000. However, Kola reportedly cited British law, stating that since Kudirat had passed away before their father, he could not release the funds.
Abdulmumuni criticized Kola’s reasoning, highlighting the inconsistency in his claims. “If he wanted to, he could have given us the money,” he asserted, pointing out that Kola had sold their mother’s apartment in the UK without informing his siblings.
“This shows a systematic attempt to impoverish my mum’s side of the family,” Abdulmumuni added, making it clear that this situation has deeply affected his relationship with Kola. “For that reason, I don’t think I will be able to forgive him.”
