Governor Alex Otti announced that the Abia government is negotiating with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company to acquire 80 megawatts of power for Umuahia.
At an interdenominational thanksgiving service held at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia to commemorate his first year in office, Mr. Otti made this declaration.
He stressed the commitment of his administration to advancing economic growth and improving the standard of living for the populace. “As we continue our negotiations with EEDC, we are working to find a solution to the power problem in Umuahia,” Mr. Otti said. “We will have at least 80 megawatts of power willed to Umuahia that will service the city when we reach maximum output.”
“It is achievable and by the end of the year, or early in the new year, we would have achieved it,” the governor continued. “Regardless of whichever ox is gored,” Mr. Otti declared, the Abia government operating under his direction would persist in doing the right thing. Additionally, he pledged that the opposition’s disparaging remarks would not divert his attention. The governor of Abia also recognized the unity, prayers, and support of religious leaders in campaigning for reform in the state. In addition, he pledged to uphold the principles of equity and fairness when providing the Abia people with a democratic dividend.
The news that Governor Alex Otti will be securing 80 megawatts of electricity for Umuahia gives the people of Abia State hope. It demonstrates the administration’s commitment to advancing economic growth and raising living standards. A steady supply of electricity promotes industrial activity, draws investments, raises living standards, and is a growth accelerator.
In order to achieve this goal, the Abia administration must confront the obstacles head-on and make sure that Umuahia as a whole reaps the rewards of a better electricity supply. Umuahia can look forward to a better, more prosperous future with strategic planning, infrastructure investment, and public cooperation. This program not only has the potential to revolutionize Umuahia but also establishes a model for other Nigerian regions to emulate. Abia State is setting the stage for a more dynamic and sustainable future where economic growth and quality of life coexist hand in hand by placing a high priority on dependable electricity.
