Governor Alex Otti announced that the Abia government is negotiating with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company to acquire 80 megawatts of power for Umuahia.
At an interdenominational thanksgiving service held at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia to commemorate his first year in office, Mr. Otti made this declaration.
He stressed the commitment of his administration to advancing economic growth and improving the standard of living for the populace. “As we continue our negotiations with EEDC, we are working to find a solution to the power problem in Umuahia,” Mr. Otti said. “We will have at least 80 megawatts of power willed to Umuahia that will service the city when we reach maximum output.”
“It is achievable and by the end of the year, or early in the new year, we would have achieved it,” the governor continued. “Regardless of whichever ox is gored,” Mr. Otti declared, the Abia government operating under his direction would persist in doing the right thing. Additionally, he pledged that the opposition’s disparaging remarks would not divert his attention. The governor of Abia also recognized the unity, prayers, and support of religious leaders in campaigning for reform in the state.
