The University community of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) is in fear as a 400-level final year student was shot dead in the hostel by yet to be identified gunman.
The final year student identified as Desmond Rukevwe Emuobonuvie, popularly called Mayor was shot dead inside the school hostel by an unknown gunman.
This ugly incident happened in the university’s Hall 3. It was gathered that the gunman stormed the hostel in the evening of yesterday Monday 3rd March, 2023 and shot the student 3 consecutive times which lead to his instant death.
This incident has heightened fears in the university as many students are scampering for safety.

Reports from the school is crediting the incident to be a cult war which has been going on in the university for a while now. The students are all worried over reprisal attack by cult rivals in the school.
Late Desmond Rukevwe Emuobonuvie was a 400 level student of Public Administration and a member of the popular Kegite club in the school.
