On Wednesday, the Commander of the Ogun State Amotekun Corps, David Akinremi, announced that four individuals had been apprehended in connection with the murder of Umaru Aliu, a herder, whose body was allegedly dismembered after he was shot in Ijagure village along Sagada, Imeko-Afon Local Government area of Ogun State.
According to Akinremi’s statement, the suspects were taken into custody after an investigation into the incident. No further information on the case was provided at this time.
He said that two of the four suspects allegedly involved in the shooting and dismembering of herder Umaru Aliu in Ijagure village have been arrested by his men, while the other two were apprehended by the Oyo State Police Command. A total of seven individuals were believed to have been involved in the incident, which occurred on April 30, 2023, around 6 pm.

Akinremi stated that the suspects were apprehended on Tuesday, and named them as Akinyele Adebayo, aged 49, and Idosu Gbalo, aged 30. He added that the incident took place while Aliu and Umaru Takake were grazing their cattle in the bush near the village, and that Fagbemi Kareem, who is now on the run, attacked them with a locally-made single-barrel gun.
According to Akinremi, Fagbemi Kareem, who is still at large, was accompanied by four other suspects named Olorunto Segun, Baba Shele, Lana Ojugbele, and Ashipa during the attack on the herders. The suspects followed the herders into a farmland owned by Chief Ogunlana Fagbemi, Alias Osewuya in Ijagure village. There, they allegedly shot Umaru Aliu, one of the herders, while Umaru Takake narrowly escaped unharmed. The suspects were eventually caught by security operatives on Tuesday.

David Akinremi stated that the two suspects arrested in connection with the killing and dismemberment of a herder, Umaru Aliu, are being transferred to the state police headquarters in Abeokuta for further action and prosecution. It is unclear at this time what specific charges the suspects will face.
