Osun Court Remands Man for Allegedly Beating Woman to Death

A magistrates’ court in Ile-Ife, Osun State, has remanded 25-year-old Kola Adebisi for allegedly beating a woman to death. The charges against Adebisi include assault and homicide.

Magistrate Kikelomo Adebayo, citing lack of jurisdiction, did not take Adebisi’s plea. Instead, she ordered his remand at the Ile-Ife corrections center pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The case has been adjourned until June 21 for mention.

Prosecutor Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi informed the court that Adebisi committed the offense on April 15, 2024, around 4:00 p.m. in the Ita-Apata area of Ile-Ife. The victim, Grace Omisakin, was allegedly beaten to death by Adebisi. The charge falls under section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

Adebisi was represented in court by his counsel, Micheal Babatunde.
