Fifteen passengers were injured in a multiple-vehicle accident involving a BRT bus, an articulated truck, and a commercial bus in Ketu, inward Ojota, Lagos State.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday. The accident was reported via the state’s toll-free emergency numbers, 767 and 112.
LASEMA’s response team from the Command and Control Centre, C3, Alausa, arrived promptly at the scene under the Ojota Interchange Bridge at 11:40 a.m. The collision involved a BRT bus with registration number EXY-167XY, an articulated truck carrying a 40-feet container, and an 18-seater commercial bus with registration number JJJ-439YG.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck lost control while heading towards Ketu, veering off its lane and colliding with the BRT bus traveling towards Ojota. The impact caused the BRT bus to swerve into the service lane, where it collided with the yellow commercial bus.
“Fifteen people were injured in the incident. Fortunately, no critical injuries were sustained, and no fatalities were recorded,” Oke-Osanyintolu stated. He noted that the BRT bus suffered significant damage to both the front and rear ends, while the truck’s tractor head was also damaged.
The injured passengers were swiftly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. LASEMA’s pre-hospital care team attended to four victims on the scene.
The articulated truck was subsequently towed to the LASTMA yard in Oshodi, while the BRT bus was moved to the BRT yard in Ojota. The yellow commercial bus was driven off by its owner. Following the clearance operations, the road was reopened to vehicular traffic.
